Haverton Hill Pyrolysis Plant

On behalf of our client, Stopford Energy and Environment, ELG Planning are in the process of preparing a planning application for submission to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council for the creation of a pyrolysis plant (plastics to fuel facility) on land at Haverton Hill Road, Billingham.

The purpose of the proposed pyrolysis plant is to generate material products from waste. It does this using a pyrolysis (heating) process to breakdown non-recyclable plastic waste feedstock and further processing in order to produce the refined products. The technology is both proven and an important step in creating a sustainable circular economy for end-of-life plastic waste. To confirm, by capacity the facility is defined as a Small Waste Incineration Plant (SWIP) and it will not handle hazardous waste. Separate to planning, it will have all the necessary waste permits.
