Development Proposal
A development of up to 145 dwellings consisting of 1.5 and 2 storey homes with 2 - 4 bedrooms. Before a planning application is submitted to Durham Council, Miller Homes would like to welcome your views on the design of the proposed scheme and invite you to provide any comments. We invite you to give your feedback on our plans during our public consultation period. The draft layout is available to download from the website and outlines the current proposals and aims to provide new homes in a sustainable location that would benefit Willington. The key characteristics of the proposed scheme include:- Up to 145no. new homes.
- Provision of affordable housing.
- A mix of housing with 2, 3 and 4 bed dwellings.
- Provision of bungalows.
- A single access point off Rockingham Road.
- Consideration of the existing setting with the inclusion of green buffers to Willington Burn.
- Retention of boundary hedgerows and trees (where possible).
- Different types of landscaping and open space are proposed across the site with tree planting, structured planting to the north and SUDs basin, achieving a gain in biodiversity.
- Pedestrian links across the site to connect to existing routes and provide greater connectivity.
- Increased children’s play area adjacent to the existing facility on Rockingham Road.
