Stephenson Building, Newcastle

ELG Planning were delighted to assist NORR Architects with this impressive new build on the Newcastle University campus. The original building was opened in 1951 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and is named after engineering pioneer George Stephenson whom is the renowned ‘Father of the Railways,’ which started with the Stockton to Darlington railway in 1825. This impressive project received planning permission in the Summer of 2021 and will see a £68.75m investment in the city. With so many of our team with under/post graduate qualifications from the University of Newcastle’s  School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape, it is great to have been involved with this project.
